This post is in collaboration with Meet Boston. All thoughts and opinions are our own.
Jessica, Megan, and Greta recently got back from five fun-filled days in Boston, Massachusetts. A few of us have been to New England in the fall but none of us had experienced a Boston Summer.
Where to Stay
Omni Boston Hotel at the Seaport – If you want to stay in a trendy, more industrial area of Boston, Seaport is a great area. This neighborhood is steps away from traditional downtown Boston and a short drive from Boston Logan Airport. The Omni Boston Seaport has 1054 guestrooms, a rooftop pool, multiple restaurants, a spa, and lots of art woven into the interior design of the hotel.
Megan and Greta stayed in a Double Queen Room while Jessica stayed in a King room that connected. We were able to explore the fun shops and restaurants in the Seaport neighborhood and even tried a few of the food spots in the hotel. We went to Cocorico for coffee and pastries each morning and Lifted Rooftop in the evening for curated cocktails, fusion flavors, and skyline views. You have everything you need on the property if you just want to hit up the spa, enjoy the pool, and relax.
Boston Harbor Hotel – Halfway through our stay we checked into the Boston Harbor Hotel in the historic Rowes Wharf Harbor. This is Boston’s only AAA Five-Diamond and Forbes Five-Star waterfront hotel that welcomes guests who arrive by land or sea. This property is so elegant and the staff goes above and beyond in every area. Our rooms had breathtaking views of the waterfront, luxurious living spaces, soft beds, Nespresso coffee makers, and more. We were so spoiled by this luxury property.
Boston Harbor also has a restaurant on the property, Rowes Wharf Grille. This restaurant showcases the best culinary offerings in a harbor setting with the perfect waterfront experience. We dined on halibut, delicious flatbread, espresso ice cream, and tasty cocktails.
How to Get Around
There’s no need to rent a car if you’re staying in Boston. The city is extremely walkable and has great public transit. You can use rideshare apps to get around but using the subway or bus is easier on the bank account.
Silver Line (SL1) – We took the Silver Line because it’s a free bus ride to downtown Boston from the airport. We took the SL1 to Seaport and the bus stop was a 5-minute walk to the Omni. We love it when there’s public transit available to the airport!
Subway – Boston has a subway system and multiple lines that run throughout the day. Use Apple Maps to navigate and get a CharlieCard to load money to get going.
Bus – If you get a CharlieCard for the subway, you can also use it for the bus. We used the MBTA website a lot to see schedules, maps, and how much it would be to get from point A to point B.
What to Do
Matching Friendship Bracelets at Brave Daughter – Nothing says girls trip like matching permanent jewelry! Brave Daughter is located in the Seaport Neighborhood and was founded in 2018. Brave Daughter is a brand that focuses on intentional pieces that are a keepsake and reminder of a special memory. We each decided on gold permanent jewelry with Megan and Jessica getting bracelets and Greta getting an anklet. You can get one piece or layer and have multiple permanent jewelry pieces like necklaces and rings.
Make an appointment with some of your best friends and have fun with the design process by picking out different stones, charms, and chains.
Find the Perfect Denim at Injeanius – Next to Brave Daughter in the Seaport District in Injeanius, a denim store. The ladies who run the store are denim geniuses who take the frustration out of denim shopping. They listen to what you’re looking for and the problems and frustrations you have with denim and they bring in multiple pairs until you find the perfect one. Plus the store is gorgeous with a custom denim hanging install that is so cool!
Explore the Seaport Neighborhood – The Seaport district is up and coming and has so many cool and trendy places to check out. We walked around The Superette and shopped in Anthropologie, Alo, Staud, and more. There are also lots of great places to eat like Yume Ga Arukara, Mia’s Brooklyn Bakery, Borrachito Taqueria, and Cisco Brewers Beer Garden.
Woman’s Suffrage Walk with Hub Town Tours – A new tour with Hub Town Tours is ‘Back Bay: Small Group Tour of Women’s Rights Boston’. We met our tour guide, Leah, in Boston Common and went on an outdoor two-and-a-half-hour tour of Boston’s leading role in the American fight for women’s suffrage. We had warm weather and a little rain but it’s a great way to explore Boston while also learning about some important history. Hub Town Tours also does tours of the Freedom Trail and Beacon Hill.
Enjoy the Exhibits at the Museum of Fine Arts – If the day is too warm, take your summer activities inside and enjoy the exhibits and the Museum of Fine Arts. They have so many exhibits right now you could be there all day if you wanted to. One exhibit we were interested in was the ‘Dress Up‘ fashion exhibit. This exhibit celebrates 20th- and 21st-century style with fashions by Alexander McQueen, Bob Mackie, and Oscar de la Renta as well as jewelry from designers like Hattie Carnegie, Lanvin, Elsa Peretti, Schreiner, and Trifari.
Fashion is a big part of the babes. We all express ourselves so differently but we all love to show our personalities with clothing and accessories. It’s fun seeing an exhibit and seeing what pieces we gravitate toward and align with.
The ‘Dress Up’ exhibit at the MFA sadly ends September 2nd.  But check out current and upcoming exhibits here.
Shop on Newbury Street – Newbury Street is an iconic street in Boston filled with shops, local restaurants, photo ops, and more. Newbury Street is a mile long and stretches over eight blocks. On Sundays in the summer, the street is closed so pedestrians can use the full width of the street for their summer enjoyment.
Wander Boston Public Garden – The Boston Public Garden is a beautiful place to sit and enjoy a beautiful park and garden with the skyscrapers at the same time. You can walk through the Boston Common and Public Garden, take a swan boat tour, or grab an ice cream and sit on a park bench. Either way, enjoy the view!
Saturday Fun at the SoWa Open Market – A Sunday staple in Boston is hitting the SoWa Open Market. It’s the largest open-air market in Boston with local vendors and food trucks. Spend a morning with an iced coffee in hand while you browse artist studios, galleries, and retail shops. The market is open May – October.
Sunset Sail with Classic Harbor Line – You can’t visit Boston in the summer and not do something in the harbor. Whale Watching is popular but another thing to do is a beautiful sunset cruise. We had a great evening sipping wine and watching the sunset over the Boston skyline.
Take In the City at View Boston – Get a 360 look of the city at View Boston in the Prudential Center. You take an elevator ride to the top and see breathtaking views of Boston’s iconic sites like MIT, Fenway, Harvard, and more. There are also restaurants where you can meet your bestie for a cocktail and enjoy the view or have a delicious meal at The Beacon.
We enjoyed lunch at The Beacon and enjoyed handcrafted cocktails and regionally inspired plates like the cold Lobster Roll, braised shorts ribs, and fancy grilled cheese. They also make a mean espresso martini!
Go to a Red Sox Game – One thing that has to be on your Boston summer bucket list is enjoying a Red Sox game at Fenway Park. We got the cheapest tickets and spent the game wandering around and watching the game from empty seats. Fenway is so iconic, it’s a once-in-a-lifetime thing to witness, and lucky for us the Red Sox won against The Royals. Also, stay to sing ‘Sweet Caroline’ in the 7th Inning Stretch.
Where to Eat
Borrachito Taqueria & Spirits – Borrachito Taqueria & Spirits is located in Seaport and is a dual concept with the taqueria (which we visited) in the front and a cocktail bar in the back. We stopped by for lunch and enjoyed frozen margaritas, nachos, burritos, and more. It was some of the best tacos we’ve had in a long time and very affordable.
Rooftop at Revere Hotel – If you want a cocktail in hand while enjoying some incredible views of Boston, make a reservation for sunset at the Rooftop at Revere in Boston’s Theater District. It’s the largest rooftop lounge in the city and has panoramic views of Boston Common and Back Bay. We ate pizzas, poke bowls, and hand-crafted cocktails while we enjoyed the view and took in the Boston skyline.
Folio at The Boston Athenaeum – One of our favorite eateries of the trip was at Folio. It was a small restaurant with an intimate atmosphere that specialized in shareable plates and craft cocktails. We sipped on Holly Golightly’s and shared Burratta, Charcuterie, Focaccia, and Tortilla de Papas. We also loved the cozy decor with dark green walls and fun book-themed wallpaper.
Forcella – You have to visit Little Italy while in Boston and enjoy old-world Italian food. Forcella is a small, intimate restaurant with only 33 seats that’s perfect for a date night or girl’s night out. We sat at the bar while we dined on Pappardelle all Bolognese, Cacio e Pepe, and Rigatoni. The bartender, Austin, also made some cocktails of his creation and made the evening so much fun. Highly recommend making a reservation!
The Beehive – A popular brunch spot, the Beehive is a jazz bar with great food and entertainment every day of the week. While they have outdoor seating, we recommend eating inside and enjoying the bohemian vibes. They have great brunch items like Avocado Toast, Vegetable and Cheese Frittata, and the American Breakfast.
High Street Place – For any meal, you have to visit High Street Place. High Street Place is a food hall lined with bars, restaurants, and counters that serve food and beverages from James Beard-nominated chefs. Under one roof you’ll find 17 food and beverage vendors with award-winning bartenders and local icons from in and around Boston. We stopped by for breakfast and grabbed a coffee from Gracenote, acai bowls from Mother Juice, and pastries from Mamaleh’s. Next time we’ll be coming back for dinner and drinks.
Pasta Beach – Our last supper in Boston was at Pasta Beach in Rowes Wharf. Pasta Beach has the cutest interior design with warm oranges, greens, and palm leaves. Enjoy delicious pasta, flatbreads, Aperol Spritz and Asparagi. The staff here was also so friendly and accommodating!
