Embrace it! I was working in London for a couple months and did some weekend trips by myself. While I prefer traveling with my husband, I also wasn’t going to just sit around and not visit new places while I had this opportunity. I went out and did everything on my own terms—sightseeing, relaxing, and dining. It was all really enjoyable!
As a woman, be as safe as possible. Check-in with someone at the end of the day, leave your itinerary with a friend, be aware of your surroundings and make smart choices!
When you head out for solo travel for the first time, the best thing to do first is to reach out to others in the area to see if you can connect. When I took my first solo trip to Phoenix, AZ. I looked through groups that I am a part of and made connections to meet up for food, drinks, or to invite along on the activities that I had planned. Additionally, when out on solo travel, make a plan for your day ahead of time. It’ll help you navigate around with purpose but also give you some wiggle room to explore.
